Elegy closer to be nominated for Annual Academy Awards

TEHRAN, Sep. 22 (MNA) – Yousef Karegar’s short film Elegy was nominated as the best short film at the 3rd Summer Slam Film Festival 2015, being closer to be nominated to the Academy Award.

In its new international presence, Elegy is the only representative of Iran which is going to compete with films from USA, Australia, Germany, Canada, Greece, Britain and Bulgaria.

A combination of 16 filmmakers and critics will judge the selected films for the festival awards.

Best of Festival, Best Narrative, Best Experimental Film and Best Animation will be winners of SSFF which not only gain prestige and financial support, but can be also qualified for Annual Academy Awards.

Elegy is a short film produced by Urmia office of IYCS and tells the story of an old man who has been waiting for the return of his missing son for 25 years.

Kargar’s production has enjoyed a number of international screenings at various film festivals in US, Tanzania, Italy, Germany, Bosnia and Russia any many other countries.

The Summer Slam Film Festival is committed to providing direct support to filmmakers. The Festival’s 2015 awards will present over $12,000 to filmmakers through cash, prizes and awards.

The Festival will be held on September 26-27 in Texas.
